I stay, and I watch
the comedy
far and wide.

I fall for the
farce for the
erosion.

I gasp at
the fiction so
deep,

I wince at
the ingenuity of the
universal
weep.

I stay, and I watch
the mockery
from abroad.

We're up against
the perfections of
nature so,

I stay, and I watch
the way the leaf drifts
downstream.

I envy the way
it marks its
course.
The way it
paves itself
anew,

dizzying its
instinct like its
living
an eternal novella.
