and rescued the doe before
she was swallowed in the temptation of time.

They split ice cream sundaes.

They'd rip up their clothes.

The compass between them, with its force
too strong,
led them to the lake, near the mountains,
in winter.

Everything froze.
The frost captured their play.

They fed off each other,
preying the meat.
